2-Year-Old Chewed on Kratom Tablet – Is Medical Attention Needed?
My 2-year-old got into my purse and chewed on one of my kratom tablets—it’s the Press’d Extra Strength kind with 40 mg of 7-hydroxymitragynine. She spit some out onto a napkin but might’ve swallowed some. It happened about 10 minutes ago. She’s acting fine right now. What should I do?

That product contains a high dose of 7-hydroxymitragynine, which can cause opioid-like effects and seizures, especially in children. Because we don’t know how much she may have swallowed, she needs to go to the emergency department now for observation. If she becomes very sleepy, unresponsive, has trouble breathing, or starts seizing, call 911 immediately.
